Please find attached data and charts detailing U. S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended May 19, 2016. Total net imports for the reference week averaged 1.12 bcf/d, higher by +0.10 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.46 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 24.2 bcf/d, higher by +0.1 bcf/d week-over-week. Commitments of Traders Report – May 23, 2016
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended May 17. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent, gasoil, heating oil and WTI , but decreased in gasoline and natural gas during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas fell by -8.1k to +68.1k in futures and declined by -9.1k to .....

Baker Hughes shows 403 active rigs as of May 20, 2016, lower by -2 from the previous week. Oil rigs were unchanged at 318 (ht: +1; vt-dir: -1), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 85 (ht: -2; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 in Anadarko (OK) and by +3 in Permian (TX), while declining by -2 in Anadarko (TX). Horizontal gas rigs declined by -1 in Eagle Ford (TX) and Granite Wash (OK), while increasing by +1 in Haynesville (LA).

The EIA reported a +73 bcf injection for the week ending May 12, coming in below our own number at +79 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +79 bcf. Regionally, the small net injection reported by salt domes explains most of the miss compared to our expectations. As every other region reported a higher injection week-on-week, salt domes injected only +3 bcf to get within 11 bcf of the high from last November. Based on pipeline data we expected a higher injection into salt domes for the week.....

Total net imports for the reference week averaged 1.04 bcf/d, lower by -0.99 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.34 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 24.2 bcf/d, lower by -0.1 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 22 population-weighted CDDs, higher by +4 from the previous.....

Baker Hughes shows 405 active rigs as of May 13, 2016, lower by -9 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -10 to 318 (ht: -5; vt-dir: -5), while gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 87 (ht: +2; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Permian (TX) and by -2 in Anadarko (OK). A horizontal gas rig has returned to Colorado after six months of no activity in the state, but there were no changes in any of the majors plays that we track.

The EIA reported a +56 bcf injection for the week ending May 5, coming in below our own number at +60 bcf and in line with the Bloomberg median at +57 bcf. Regionally the South Central reported a larger build than expected the expense of Midwest and others. There will be no commentary this week. Please note our extended U.S. and Canada tables covering the injection season are included in the attachment.
