Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended December 30. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in heating oil and Brent , but decreased in natural gas, gasoline and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas decreased by -28.4k to -7.4k in futures and declined by -6.8k to +32.7k.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,810 active rigs as of January 5, 2015, lower by -29 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -17 to 1,482 (ht: -7; vt-dir: -10) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -12 to 328 (ht: -7; vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -2 to 194 in Eagle Ford (TX) and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -4 to 135 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -2 to 14 in Eagle Ford (TX).

Baker Hughes shows 1,839 active rigs as of December 26, 2014, lower by -35 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -37 to 1,499 (ht: -4; vt-dir: -33) while gas-directed rigs increased by +2 to 340 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 to 196 in the Eagle Ford (TX) whereas increased by +5 to 264 in the Permian (TX). Baker Hughes shows 1,874 active rigs as of December 19, 2014, lower by -18 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -10 to 1,536 (ht: -5; vt-dir: -5) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -8 to 338 (ht: -6; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -5 to 159 in the Bakken (ND) whereas increased by +5 to 259 in the Permian (TX). Vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -5 to 147 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -3 to 24 in Marcellus (WV).

EIA reported a -64 bcf withdrawal for the week ending December 12 (Bloomberg median -60 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: -60 bcf). The 24 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -78 bcf to -54 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our model showed -58 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA decreased by -1 to 164 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days remained flat at 2 CDDs. Oil rigs decreased by -29 to 1,546 (ht: -6; vt-dir: -23) while the total number of gas-directed rigs increased by +2 to 346 (ht: +5; vt-dir: -3).
