The EIA reported a -3 bcf withdrawal for the week ending April 7, coming in tighter than our own number at +4 bcf, and the Bloomberg median at +3 bcf. The stronger than expected withdrawal in the East explains most of the difference to our expectations and could be a result of the much colder than normal weather in the region. While our scrape sample could not justify such a large withdrawal in the East, the weather-driven supply and demand models underestimated the draw as well. Last week.....

Total net imports for the reference week averaged 1.17 bcf/d, higher by +0.83 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.60 bcf/d. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent and natural gas , but decreased in gasoline, gasoil, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Baker Hughes shows 443 active rigs as of April 8, 2016, lower by -7 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -8 to 354 (ht: -5; vt-dir: -3) while gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 89 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Permian (TX) and by -2 in Bakken (ND), but increased by +2 in Anadarko (OK). On the gas side, horizontal gas rigs decreased by -1 to 2 in Haynesville (TX), but increased by +1 to 4 in Eagle Ford (TX).

The EIA reported a +12 bcf injection for the week ending March 31, coming in slightly above our own number at +8 bcf, and the Bloomberg median at +8 bcf. Reported South Central injection was significantly higher than our estimates, while East and Midwest withdrawals came in stronger than our models suggested. There will be no commentary today. The EIA reported a -25 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 24, coming in line with our own number at -25 bcf, and the Bloomberg median at -25 bcf.
