Please find the attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended October 12th, 2017. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -1.10 bcf/d, lower by -0.51 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged +1.77 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 30.2 bcf/d, up by +3.1 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 44 population weighted CDDs, up +11 week over week.

Oil rigs decreased by -5 to 743 (ht: -3; vt-dir: -2), and gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 185 (ht: -3; vt-dir: +1). The EIA reported a +87 bcf injection for the week ending October 5th, the number was 4 bcf higher than our estimate and 2 bcf above the Bloomberg median. The region that led to most of our error was the East where our model had forecasted a much lower injection than was reported.
