Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended July 25. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent, gasoline, gasoil, heating oil and WTI , but decreased in natural gas during the reference week. US: Baker Hughes shows 958 active rigs as of July 28, 2017, higher by +8 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +2 to 766 (ht: +5; vt-dir: -3), and gas-directed rigs increased by +6 to 192 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 in Permian (NM), by +2 in Anadarko (OK) and by +1 in Permian (TX), while declining by -2 in Eagle Ford (TX). The EIA reported a 17 bcf injection for the week ending July 20th. The number was 7 bcf lower than both our flow model and the Bloomberg median. This week our model ran into difficulties estimating the South Central and the Midwest regions, together the regions accounted for 5 bcf and 3 bcf of the error, respectively. Please find the attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended July 20, 2017. Total net imports for the reference week averaged +0.01 bcf/d, higher by +0.04 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.51 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 34.6 bcf/d, higher by +0.6 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 95 population weighted CDDs, flat week over week.

The EIA reported a +28 bcf injection for the week ending July 13th. The number was -5 bcf lower than both our flow model and the Bloomberg median. The two regions that led to our model’s 5 bcf miss were the Midwest and the South Central.
