The EIA reported a +73 bcf injection for the week ending April 21, coming in higher than our own number at +68 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +70 bcf. Regionally the East and South Central salt domes injected more than expected. Warmer than normal weather pushed the East to a net injection, but wide front spreads are probably still responsible for the very strong salt dome injections. A +10 bcf injection for salt domes is higher than the 5-yr average of +8 bcf and is especially impressive.....

Total net imports for the reference week averaged 1.04 bcf/d, lower by -0.07 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.56 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 23.5 bcf/d, higher by +0.4 bcf/d week-over-week. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent, natural gas, gasoil and WTI , but decreased in gasoline and heating oil during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas increased by +9.5k to +64.8k in futures and rose by +7.3k .....

Baker Hughes shows 431 active rigs as of April 22, 2016, lower by -9 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -8 to 343 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -6), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -1 to 88 (ht: -1; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 in Permian (TX) and by -3 in Eagle Ford (TX), but increased by +4 in areas of Texas not associated with any major play. On the gas side, Barnett (TX) lost its last rig, but there were no changes in other plays.

The EIA reported a +7 bcf injection for the week ending April 14, coming in-line with our own number at +6 bcf, but higher than the Bloomberg median at +3 bcf. Regionally the East draw was stronger than expected, while the Midwest experienced no change in inventory levels compared to expectations for a draw. Salt-domes also injected more than expected and that is putting pressure on front spreads given the already high salt-dome inventory level of 342 bcf. Colder than normal weather through.....

Oil rigs decreased by -3 to 351 (ht: -6; vt-dir: +3) while gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 89 (ht: unch; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 in Permian (NM) and by +1 in Anadarko (TX), but decreased by -4 in areas of Texas not associated with any major play.
