Baker Hughes shows 1,869 active rigs as of July 18, 2014, lower by -5 from the previous week. The number of oil rigs decreased by -9 to 1,554 (ht: +11; vt-dir: -20) while gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 315 (ht: 0 ; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +7 to 223 in the Permian (TX) but decreased by -3 to 197 in the Eagle Ford (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +3 to 21 in Haynesville (LA).

EIA reported a +107 bcf injection for the week ending July 11 (Bloomberg median +100 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +102 bcf). The 24 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +86 bcf to +103 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed +105 bcf. Nationwide electricity-weighted cooling degree days reported by NOAA decreased by -7 to 70 CDDs, while natural gas-weighted HDDs also decreased by -1 to 1 HDD . Propane: US propane inventories increased by +3.2m bbl to 63.3m bbl for the week ended July 11, 2014. PADD 3 inventories increased +5%, or +1.6m bbl, to 35.6m bbl. PADD 2 stocks increased +7% or by +1.2m bbl to 20.2m bbl. In PADD 1, stocks increased +5% or +247k bbl to 5.0m bbl. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended July 08. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in gasoline , but decreased in natural gas, heating oil, Brent and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas fell by -23.0k to +235.7k in futures and decreased by -31.6k to +340.3k in fut.....

Oil rigs increased by +1 to 1,563 (ht: +7; vt-dir: -6) while the number of gas-directed rigs remained unchanged. (ht: +1; vt-dir: -1) Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 to 200 in the Eagle Ford (TX) while vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -1 to 218 in the Permian (TX). Propane: US propane inventories increased by +3.8m bbl to 60.1m bbl for the week ended July 4, 2014. PADD 3 inventories increased +6%, or +1.9m bbl, to 34.0m bbl. The 21 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +85 bcf to +108 bcf with a standard deviation of 5 bcf. Our model showed +90 bcf.
