STATS shows 1,649 active rigs as of March 22, 2013, higher by +10 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil increased by +10 to 1,289 (ht: +13; vt-dir: -3) and gas rigs were unchanged at 360 (ht: +5; vt-dir: -5). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +8 to 185 in the Bakken (ND) and by +5 to 184 in the Eagle Ford (TX). Total rigs drilling in the Marcellus ( NEPA ) were unchanged at 42 last week, according to STATS . Baker Hughes shows 1,742 active rigs as of March 22, 2013, lower by -30 for the week, h.....

EIA reported a -62 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 15 (Bloomberg median -70 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper -69). The 25 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -61 bcf to -75 bcf with a standard deviation of 3 bcf. Our model showed -63 bcf. Nationwide HDDs dropped to 150, down by -39 week on week. STATS shows 1,639 active rigs as of March 15, 2013, higher by +4 for the week. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -2 to 1,279 (ht: +8; vt-dir: -10) and gas rigs increased by +6 to 360 (ht: +2; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +9 to 179 in the Eagle Ford (TX), while horizontal gas rigs drilling in the Marcellus ( SWPA ) increased by +3 to 24. Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 5, 2013. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. Non-commercials reduced net length across the petroleum complex this week. Non-commercials cut net length in WTI by -525 to 314.3k in futures and by -6.3k to 358.5k in fut.....

Rigs drilling for oil increased by +4 to 1,281 (ht: +6; vt-dir: -2) and gas rigs declined by -2 to 354 (ht: -1; vt-dir: -1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 to 103 in the Anadarko (OK), while horizontal gas rigs drilling in the Eagle Ford (TX) fell by -2 to 19. Rigs drilling for oil decreased by -6 to 1,277 (ht: -12; vt-dir: +6) and gas rigs declined by -7 to 356 (ht: -7; vt-dir: unchanged).
