Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended March 28. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas and heating oil , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, gasoil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas rose by +5.6k to +405.9k in futures and grew by +13.3k to .....

Baker Hughes shows 822 active rigs as of March 31, 2017, higher by +15 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +10 to 662 (ht: +12; vt-dir: -2), and gas-directed rigs increased by +5 to 160 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +5). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 in Permian (TX), by +3 in Eagle Ford (TX), by +1 in Anadarko (TX) and by +7 in Other areas not associated with a specific play, while decreasing by -1 in Anadarko (OK) and by -1 in Bakken (ND). The EIA reported a -43 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 23, a slightly larger draw than the -42 bcf our flow model had anticipated and exactly in line with the Bloomberg median of -43 bcf. As for our regional breakdown, the largest difference from the EIA came in our balance between the South Central and Midwest, where we assumed a net injection in the South Central and stronger withdrawals in the Midwest. Please find attached data and charts detailing U.S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended March 23, 2017. Total net imports for the reference week averaged -0.91 bcf/d, lower by -0.46 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged +1.06 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 21.2 bcf/d, lower by -2.5 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 72 electric-weighted HDDs, down 54 week over week.

Oil rigs increased by +21 to 652 (ht: +13; vt-dir: +8), and gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 155 (ht: +2; vt-dir: -4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +7 in Anadarko (OK), by +3 in Permian (NM), by +3 in Eagle Ford (TX), by +1 in Bakken (ND) and by +1 in Other areas not associated with a specific play, while decreasing by -2 in Permian (TX). The EIA reported a -150 bcf withdrawal for the week ending March 16, a larger draw than the -143 bcf our flow model had anticipated and a smaller pull than the Bloomberg median of -153 bcf. As for our regional breakdown, the largest miss came in South Central where we assumed more modest withdrawals from non-salt caverns while the EIA reported a strong 16 bcf pull.
