Please find attached data and charts detailing U. S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended June 16, 2016. Total net imports for the reference week averaged 1.78 bcf/d, higher by +0.58 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.19 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 31.8 bcf/d, higher by +1.2 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 70 population-weighted CDDs, higher by +11 from the prev.....

Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended June 14. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas and heating oil , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, gasoil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas increased by +26.9k to +116.0k in futures and rose by +37.7.....

Baker Hughes shows 423 active rigs as of June 17, 2016, higher by +10 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +9 to 337 (ht: +3; vt-dir: +6), while gas-directed rigs increased by +1 to 86 (ht: unch; vt-dir: +1). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +4 in Permian (TX) and by +2 in Anadarko (OK). Vertical/directional oil rigs increased by +6 in areas of TX not associated with any major play. Horizontal gas rigs increased by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX) and Marcellus (WV), while decreasing by -1 in Hayn.....

The EIA reported a +69 bcf injection for the week ending June 9, coming in above our own number at +60 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +65 bcf. We chose not to make any adjustments following last week’s bullish surprise from the EIA even though the market seemed to have already been preparing itself for a bearish surprise from the EIA based on where the ICE storage swap was trading all week and the price reaction today. Oil rigs increased by +3 to 328 (ht: +5; vt-dir: -2), while gas-directed rigs increased by +3 to 85 (ht: -1; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 in Anadarko (OK) and Bakken (ND). Horizontal gas rigs decreased by -1 in Marcellus ( SWPA ), while increasing by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX).

The EIA reported a +65 bcf injection for the week ending June 2, coming in below our own number at +73 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +76 bcf. Our model was spot on in the Midwest, but overestimated injections by all other regions, led by an estimated +6 bcf in the Pacific compared to +3 bcf reported by the EIA . We missed the East and South Central by 2 bcf, and the Mountain by 1 bcf. While these misses can be technically attributed to either stronger demand or weaker supply, we suspect .....
