Commitments of Traders Report – September 29, 2014

Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended September 23. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in gasoline , but decreased in natural gas, heating oil, Brent and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas declined by -7.3k to +88.1k in futures and fell by -4.7k to +186.3k in fu.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,930 active rigs as of September 26, 2014, total number of oil & gas rigs remained unchanged from previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -9 to 1,592 (ht: +8; vt-dir: -17) while gas-directed rigs increased by +9 to 338 (ht: -2; vt-dir: +11). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 to 203 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -7 to 188 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -1 to 27 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).

EIA reported a +97 bcf injection for the week ending September 19 (Bloomberg median +95 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +97 bcf). The 24 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +90 bcf to +101 bcf with a standard deviation of 2 bcf. Our model showed +91 bcf. Nationwide electricity-weighted cooling degree days reported by NOAA decreased by -18 to 38 CDDs, while natural gas-weighted HDDs increased by +26 to 35 HDDs. Total US: +97 bcf ( LCMC : +91 bcf, Bloomberg median: +95 bcf) East: +66 bcf .....

We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent and WTI , but decreased in natural gas, heating oil and gasoline during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas fell by -6.8k to +95.5k in futures and decreased by -11.4k to +191.0k .....

Baker Hughes shows 1,930 active rigs as of September 19, 2014, total number of oil & gas rigs remained unchanged from previous week. Oil rigs increased by +9 to 1,601 (ht: +4; vt-dir: +5) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -9 to 329 (ht: -5; vt-dir: -4). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -1 to 200 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -6 to 195 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs decreased by -2 to 28 in Marcellus ( SWPA ).

Propane: US propane inventories increased by 1.4m bbl to 77.4m bbl for the week ended September 12, 2014. PADD 3 inventories increased +1%, or 325k bbl, to 41.3m bbl. PADD 2 stocks increased +4% or by +1.2m bbl to 27.3m bbl. In PADD 1, stocks fell -2% or -119k bbl to 5.6m bbl. Implied demand fell -18% to 1,104 kb/d; imports slumped -49% to 58 kb/d and production increased +1% to an all-time high of 1.62 mb/d last week. Oil rigs increased by +8 to 1,592 (ht: +16; vt-dir: -8) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -2 to 338 (ht: -7; vt-dir: +5). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 to 234 whereas vertical/directional rigs decreased by -4 to 201 in the Permian (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +1 to 20 in Granite Wash (TX).
