Please note that the Canadian inventory overview is excluded from this week’s report as the data will be released tomorrow. Today the EIA reported a +9 bcf injection for the reference week ending November 19 coming in below our own number at +12 bcf, but above the Bloomberg median at +7 bcf. After accounting for the regional rounding errors, the surprise was concentrated in the Midwest and salt-domes. It would appear that intrastate facilities that we cannot track are already withdrawing, e.....

Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended November 17. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials decreased net length in Brent, gasoline, natural gas, gasoil, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas declined by -2.0k to -105.4k in futures and decreased by -1.9k to -134.3k in.....

Baker Hughes shows 757 active rigs as of November 20, 2015, lower by -10 from the previous week. Oil rigs decreased by -10 to 564 (ht: -8; vt-dir: -2) while gas-directed rigs were unchanged at 193 (ht: +2; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 in Anadarko (OK) and by -2 in Permian (NM), while increasing by +2 in Permian (TX). Gas-directed rigs increased by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX), Granite Wash (OK), Haynesville (LA), Marcellus ( NEPA ) and Marcellus ( SWPA ).

Today the EIA reported a +15 bcf injection for the reference week ending November 12 and switched to the new regional breakdown. The injection came in below our own number at +19 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +19 bcf, but with five regions instead of the old three regions, the rounding error can create larger differences between estimates. The regional breakdown, though, was closer to expectations with the Mountain and Pacific regions being the first to enter the withdrawal season. On Mo.....

Baker Hughes shows 767 active rigs as of November 13, 2015, lower by -4 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +2 to 574 (ht: +4; vt-dir: -2) while gas-directed rigs decreased by -6 to 193 (ht: -2; vt-dir: -4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 in Monterey (CA), while declining by -2 in Eagle Ford (TX). Gas-directed rigs did not change in any of the established regions that we track and all the changes occurred in other areas not associated with any major play.

EIA reported a +49 bcf injection for the week ending November 5 (Bloomberg median +49 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: +47 bcf). The 21 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from +41 bcf to +78 bcf with a standard deviation of 9 bcf. Our model showed +48 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted heating degree days reported by NOAA increased by +1 HDD to 68 HDDs, while electricity-weighted cooling degree days decreased by -1 CDD to 10 CDDs.
