Commitments of Traders Report – June 13, 2016
Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended June 07. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas and gasoil , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas rose by +42.1k to +89.0k in futures and increased by +50.9k.....

Baker Hughes shows 413 active rigs as of June 10, 2016, higher by +6 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +3 to 328 (ht: +5; vt-dir: -2), while gas-directed rigs increased by +3 to 85 (ht: -1; vt-dir: +4). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +2 in Anadarko (OK) and Bakken (ND). Horizontal gas rigs decreased by -1 in Marcellus ( SWPA ), while increasing by +1 in Eagle Ford (TX).

The EIA reported a +65 bcf injection for the week ending June 2, coming in below our own number at +73 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +76 bcf. Our model was spot on in the Midwest, but overestimated injections by all other regions, led by an estimated +6 bcf in the Pacific compared to +3 bcf reported by the EIA . We missed the East and South Central by 2 bcf, and the Mountain by 1 bcf. While these misses can be technically attributed to either stronger demand or weaker supply, we suspect .....

Please find attached data and charts detailing U. S. gas imports and power demand for the week ended June 2, 2016. Total net imports for the reference week averaged 1.21 bcf/d, higher by +0.16 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.36 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 29.6 bcf/d, higher by +3.5 bcf/d week-over-week. During the reference week, the contiguous US observed 59 population-weighted CDDs, higher by +26 from the previ.....

We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in Brent, natural gas and WTI , but decreased in gasoline, gasoil and heating oil during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas grew by +7.1k to +47.0k in futures and rose by +13.5k to +44.....

Baker Hughes shows 407 active rigs as of June 3, 2016, higher by +4 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +9 to 325 (ht: +8; vt-dir: +1), while gas-directed rigs decreased by -5 to 82 (ht: -3; vt-dir: -2). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +3 in Permian (TX) and by +2 in Permian (NM) and areas not associated with any major play in Alaska and Texas. Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -3 in Anadarko (OK). The EIA reported a +82 bcf injection for the week ending May 26, coming in line with our own number at +81 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +83 bcf. All regions experienced stronger injections compared to the previous week, except for salt domes that actually withdrew -2 bcf. With salt dome operators either unwilling or unable to inject over the reference week, Henry Hub cash prices saw increased pressure with the cash-prompt spread widening significantly ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weeke.....
