Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended September 06. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline, heating oil and gasoil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas , but decreased in Brent, gasoline, gasoil, heating oil and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas rose by +2.5k to +231.3k in futures and grew by +9.1k to .....

Baker Hughes shows 506 active rigs as of September 9, 2016, higher by +11 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +7 to 414 (ht: -3; vt-dir: +10), while gas-directed rigs increased by +4 to 92 (ht: +4; vt-dir: unch). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -4 in Anadarko (OK) and by -2 in Permian (NM), while increasing by +3 in Anadarko (TX). Horizontal gas rigs increased by +2 in Marcellus (WV) and by +2 in Other.

The EIA reported a +36 bcf injection for the week ending September 1, coming in below our estimate of +41 bcf and the Bloomberg median at +42 bcf. Midwest injection exceeded our expectation by 4 bcf, and our model failed to capture the sharp withdrawals in South Central, especially among non-salt fields. Both regions have limited flow visibility and it is hard to speculate on the specifics of the causes, especially in the Midwest. As for South Central, cash front-month spread approached 10.....

Total net imports for the reference week averaged 0.68 bcf/d, lower by -0.23 bcf/d week-on-week. During the same week last year, U.S. net imports averaged 2.48 bcf/d. Average natural gas demand in the power sector was 34.1 bcf/d, higher by +1.2 bcf/d week-over-week. The EIA reported a +51 bcf injection for the week ending August 25, reminding us the importance of discipline and focus in modeling. Our pipeline scrape model showed a +53 injection, but given the concerns we raised in our Tuesday blurb, we decided to publish the output of our secondary models.
