Propane: US propane inventories fell by -3.4m bbl to 35.3m bbl for the week ended January 17, 2014, which is -14.4m bbl below the five-year average. PADD 3 inventories fell by -6%, or -1.2m bbl, to 20.1m bbl. PADD 2 stocks fell -12%, or -1.3m bbl, to 10.2m bbl, and in PADD 1, stocks decreased by -13% or -501k bbl to stand at 3.2m bbl. Implied demand increased +1% to 1.7 mb/d; imports were up +58% to 231 kb/d and production decreased -1% to 1.40 mb/d last week.

Please find attached data and charts detailing the latest CFTC Commitments of Traders Report for the week ended January 14. We provide all Legacy and Disaggregated trader positions for natural gas, WTI , Brent, gasoline and heating oil. Non-commercials increased net length in natural gas , but decreased in heating oil, Brent, gasoline and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials net length in natural gas grew by +19.9k to +379.4k in futures and increased by +5.7k to +499.3k in f.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,773 active rigs as of January 17, 2014, higher by +23 from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +15 to 1,408 (ht: +4; vt-dir: +11) while gas-directed rigs increased by +8 to 365 (ht: +11; vt-dir: -3). Horizontal oil rigs increased by +8 to 159 in the Permian (TX) and fell by -3 to 172 in the Eagle Ford (TX). Gas-directed horizontal rigs increased by +4 to 20 in the Eagle Ford (TX) and decreased in Haynesville (LA) by -2 to 18.

EIA reported a -287 bcf withdrawal for the week ending January 10 (Bloomberg median -302 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: -306). The 25 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -321 bcf to -278 bcf with a standard deviation of 8 bcf. Our model showed -300 bcf. Nationwide natural gas-weighted HDDs increased by +54 to 206, while nationwide electricity-weighted cooling degree days reported by NOAA decreased by -1 to 2 CDDs. Propane: US propane inventories fell by -3.8m bbl to 38.7m bbl for the week ended January 10, 2014, which is -14.8m bbl below the five-year average. PADD 3 inventories fell by -8%, or -1.9m bbl, to 21.3m bbl. PADD 2 stocks fell -12%, or -1.5m bbl, to 11.5m bbl, and in PADD 1, stocks decreased by -3% or -118k bbl to stand at 3.7m bbl. Implied demand increased +1% to 1.7 mb/d; imports were up +17% to 146 kb/d reflecting the arrival of a propane cargo in PADD 1A from Northwest Europe, and.....

Baker Hughes shows 1,750 active rigs as of January 10, 2014, unchanged from the previous week. Oil rigs increased by +15 to 1,393 (ht: +20; vt-dir: -5) and gas-directed rigs decreased by -15 to 357 (ht: -10; vt-dir: -5). Vertical oil rigs increased by +11 to 98 in Anadarko (OK), while horizontal gas-directed rigs increased by +2 to 25 in Haynesville (TX) and by +2 to 29 in Marcellus (WV).

EIA reported a -157 bcf withdrawal for the week ending January 3 (Bloomberg median -152 bcf, Bloomberg whisper: -148). Commitments of Traders Report – January 6, 2014
Non-commercials increased net length in Brent and gasoline, but decreased in natural gas and WTI during the reference week. Non-commercials decreased net length in natural gas by -13.4 to +364.6k in futures and by -17.3 to +496.6k in futures and options. The price of the front month natural gas contract was down by -4.2% to $4.23 on December 31. Non-commercial traders entered long and short positions in NYMEX futures, but exited long positions in NYMEX swaps and short positions in NYMEX.....
