STATS shows 1,723 active rigs as of November 30, 2012, down -14 rigs from a week ago. Oil rigs decreased by -23 (ht: -2, vt-dir: -21.) and total gas rigs increased by +9 (ht: -2, vt-dir: +11). Horizontal oil rigs decreased by -6 in Permian (NM). Vertical/directional oil rigs decreased by -10 in Permian (NM) but increased by +9 in Permian(TX). EIA reported a +4 bcf injection for the week ended November 22 (Bloomberg median -9 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper -5 bcf). The 26 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -28 bcf to +5 bcf with a standard deviation of 8 bcf. Our model showed -9 bcf. Nationwide cooling degree days reported by NOAA decreased to 2 CDDs from 3 CDDs the prior week. Nationwide HDDs decreased to 124 from 131 in the prior week. We focus on net length of non-commercial traders as well as net length of money managers and swap dealers as indicated in the disaggregated data for WTI , natural gas, gasoline, and heating oil. EIA reported a -38 bcf withdrawal for the week ended November 16 (Bloomberg median -28 bcf, Bloomberg Whisper -30 bcf). The 27 estimates submitted to Bloomberg varied from -36 bcf to -17 bcf with a standard deviation of 4 bcf. Our model showed -36 bcf.
